Very sad, indeed. For those who haven't been following over at Scott's Facebook page, here's the link.

I was sad to hear Scott had no surviving family. I hope the M&P extended family was there for him as he was there for them. I will never forget the emotion in my Dad's voice when he mentioned how much San Francisco meant to him and the other veterans serving in Vietnam. I'll always be partial to the best rendition of 500 miles ever led by Scott's vocals.

I don't believe this is a mamas and papas effort. Does anyone have any information as to the backround voices?

Originally intended for 1971's People Like Us, the contractually obligated Mamas & Papas reunion album, this breathtakingly cynical appraisal takes its title from the "Fab Four"-like moniker given to the band by a Saturday Evening Post writer. Appropriately, the backing vocals by Michelle Phillips, Terry Melcher, and co-producer Bill Cleary are delivered in a fake British accent. (From Jack of Diamonds)

Thanks, David. I never realized this. I must be weird, as I actually like it.
